About Dr Sanjay Adusumilli
Dr Sanjay Adusumilli is a General and Colorectal Surgeon employed in the Sydney West Area Health Service. He performs surgery on both public and private patients.
Sanjay graduated from Monash University in 2003, before undertaking his surgical training at Westmead Hospital. He was accepted into the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand training program in 2010. He pursued further sub-specialty training in Colorectal surgery in Fremantle Hospital (Western Australia) and Oxford University Hospitals (United Kingdom). He worked as a consultant in Oxford prior to returning to Australia.
Sanjay performs surgery for both general surgical conditions and colorectal disorders. He has training in advanced laparoscopic surgery and is able to perform surgery using minimally invasive techniques. Sanjay has also received training in robotic surgery. He also performs gastroscopies and colonoscopies. All his cancer patients are discussed at the Westmead Hospital Colorectal Multidisciplinary team meetings.
Sanjay has completed a Masters of Surgery at the University of Sydney. He has published on numerous topics including colonic bleeding, faecal incontinence, obstructed defecation and single incision surgery. He has been asked to perform reviews for journals, as well as being invited to present at conferences both in Australia and overseas. Sanjay is actively involved in teaching medical students and surgical trainees.
Sanjay was involved in the establishment of the Western Sydney Pelvic Floor Clinic at Blacktown Hospital. He is also a cofounder of the Global Medical Foundation Australia (www.gmfaustralia.org.au), which is a charity that raises funds and provides medical services to third world countries. Each year Sanjay travels overseas to perform this work.
